Inside and Outside, a joint group exhibition by AOTO Art (Ashiya), Eunoia (Kobe), and the participating artists, will be held at Marukawa Space, next door to AOTO Art.
Exhibition Overview
Both AOTO Art (Ashiya) and Eunoia (Kobe) opened last year as new cultural hubs in the Hanshin art scene. In this exhibition, the two communities come together with six artists to explore the possibilities of the awai, the in-between, in a time of change.
The title Inside and Outside refers not to the two realms themselves, but to the ambiguous space that arises at the boundary between them. The venue is a building being reborn through renovation while keeping traces of its past, a space that itself exists in the awai between past and present, inside and outside. Through the works of the six artists gathered here, we invite you to look closely at the mist-like in-between that emerges along the boundary, and to open your senses to the subtle wavering we usually overlook and to the possibility of new connections.
During the same period, AOTO Art presents Tomoko Inagaki’s solo exhibition House of Ice, Rite of Fire. We hope you will visit both.
